Waldauf³

“That magical atmosphere created between the audience and the musicians in a concert is one of the best feelings."

—  Laura-Maria

Multifaceted joy of playing with plenty of heart and soul

A little story about us....

"From the sandpit to the Hofburg”- accurately describes our musical journey together so far. As children (sisters and cousin) we explored playgrounds, invented games or stories and spent many holidays together. Just a few years later we started to master our first instruments. From then on, playgrounds became much less interesting and the passion for making music together grew steadily. In 2015 we created our first official Waldauf³ business cards, which allowed us to receive small gigs at family celebrations, birthdays, musicians' get-togethers, etc. Following the example of our parents' generation, we played authentic folk music, attended musician's gatherings and finally won our first award at the Alpine Folk Music Competition in Innsbruck in 2016.

The initial spark for our further musical development was ignited during our participation in the Austrian music competition Prima la Musica in the category "chamber music in open formations" under the direction of Peter Hausberger. Our somewhat unusual arrangements and convincing desire to make music together were awarded a special prize at the national Prima la Musica competition. These days we mix the alpine elements with new sounds of folk music, as well as various musical directions.

  • 2017 Special prize at the federal-state level of the Austrian music competition Prima la Musica.

 Some fun facts about Laura-Maria:

As the oldest member of our group, Laumi is in charge of the group’s organisation and admin work. Thus, she usually starts the day with structured to-do lists and enjoys an occasional break for culinary delights.

Therefore, one should always notice if she is getting “hangry” because there is no greater joy for a hungry musician than a homemade meal! Laura-Maria also acts as the group’s chauffeur, allowing the other two to rest during their many journeys across Austria.

What you should know about Maggie:

Maggie is definitely the youngest of the group. Before performances she likes to take a nap and then breaks out into some dance moves to energise herself again. Maggie is not very squeamish about her shoes and fingers and has dealt with plenty of pre-concert blisters and broken heels.

Character traits of Hiasl:

Hiasl is our creative mind, always coming up with a variety of ideas. Accordingly, his wardrobe provides a mix of the most colourful shirts and trousers. However, his choice of hairstyles is less diversified, only ranging from 3 mm to 10 cm in length. In addition to his passion for music he is also an active athlete and brings a great energy to the ensemble.
